What do the letters and numbers actually mean?

What is your bra size? Traditional bra sizes are a combination of letters and numbers. The numerical part of the size (eg 34-34C) represents your bust measurement or the measurement around your rib cage just below your bust. To get this number, pull a soft measuring tape tightly around the bottom of the bra strap while wearing it. Round to the nearest whole number and add four (five if odd). This is your group size.

The letter part of the bra size is your cup size. To get it, you will need your chest measurements. Measure around your chest again this time placing the measuring tape in front of the nipple. This is your chest measurement. Get your bust size by subtracting your bust size from your bust size. If the difference is 1, then your cup size is A, 2 a B, 3 a C etc. Right hereUseful tablewill help you hone your menstrual cup size calculation skills.

You should now have a letter and a number to use as your bra size. Your bracelet size comes first and then your cup size. Remember that even after all this effort, this is only a guide. Popular questions about what is band size in bras

what is band size in bras?

To determine the band size: Measure snugly around your ribcage, directly under your breasts. Add 3 inches to this measurement. For example, if your ribcage is 31 inches, your band size is 34. If your result is an odd number, go UP to the next band size..

What band size is a 34B?

Example: If your underbust = 73 cm, your band size is 34. If your overbust = 85 cm, in the 34 band size chart, your bra size is 34B. The measuring tape should be somewhat loose and measured at the fullest part of your chest. U.S.

Is band size the same as bust size?

The bust size is the loose circumference measured around the chest over the fullest part of the breasts, while standing straight with arms to the side, and wearing a properly fitted bra. The band or frame size is the firm circumference, fitted not tightly, measured directly underneath the breasts.

Does the band size of a bra matter?

Proper cup fit is influenced by band size. As the band size changes, so does the cup size. For every band size you go down, you should go up one cup. If you are in a 34D with a good cup fit, but want to go down to a 32 band, you would go to a 32DD for a tighter band with the same cup fit.

Which is bigger 34B or 34C?

In standard bra sizes, the number denotes band size and the letter denotes cup size. So 34C has a bigger cup size than 34B but the same band size.

Are 32B and 34C the same?

It’s a common misconception that the larger the cup size, the larger the bra, no matter what the band size (i.e. a 32F is larger than a 36B, a 34C is larger than a 38A, etc).

Bra Sister Size Size Comparison Chart:
34 BAND SIZES
Sister Size DOWN Current Bra Size Sister size UP
32B 34A 36AA
32C 34B 36A
32D 34C 36B

How do I know my band size?

To determine the band size:

Measure snugly around your ribcage, directly under your breasts. Add 3 inches to this measurement. For example, if your ribcage is 31 inches, your band size is 34. If your result is an odd number, go UP to the next band size..

Why do you add 4 inches to your band size?

Bra band size

When bra sizes were first conceived in the 1930s, the materials used for bras were a lot stiffer and less flexible – women were only just out of corsets – so manufacturers used to recommend adding 4 inches to your actual size to get the correct band size.

Which is bigger cup A or B?

STEP 3: FIND YOUR CUP SIZE

If there’s a 1-inch difference between bust and band you’re an A cup; 2-inch difference is a B cup, 3 inches is a C cup, 4 inches is a D cup, and so on. For example, if your bust measurement is 37 inches and your band is 33 inches, you would be a D cup because of the 4-inch difference.

How do I know if my bra band is too big?

The band should not be higher at the back than under the breasts. The breasts creep out under the cup. If the cup glides up when you stretch your arms so that the breasts start creeping out underneath, the band of the bra is too big. Breasts should never escape from a bra at the top, bottom or armpit.

What does a 40C bra size mean?

What does 40C bra size mean? The 40C cup size breast tissue is spread over a wider chest area and therefore will look like a small bust. Whereas the 30C cup size will look much bigger as the breast tissue is over a much narrower chest.

Is DD bigger than D?

There is a difference of between 2cm and 2.54cm (depending on where you shop) between each cup size, so an AA is an inch smaller than A and DD is an inch bigger than D.

Is 32C and 34B the same?

Sister sizes

For an example, a 32C and a 34B are the same cup size. The only difference is the band size. The 34 is a bigger band size than a 32. Another example, a 34B and 36A are the same cup size.

What’s the difference between 34a and 34B?

Now, here’s where things can get a little tricky. For reference, any cup with a 34 band size is considered a “true cup” size. This means that a 34AA is in fact a AA cup, just as how a 34B is a true B cup. However, a 34B is also equivalent in cup volume to a 30D, 32C, and a 36A.

Can a 34D wear a 36C?

So a woman wearing a 36C can wear a 34D , and how it would fit, it would be tighter around the ribcage but the cup would be the same. So technically a 38C cup wearer has smaller breasts than a 30DD cup wearer.

A good-quality, well-adjusted bra in the right size can make all the difference, both in comfort and appearance.

The first step to identifying your bra size is measuring around the bottom of the band directly under the bust using a measuring tape (while not wearing a bra or this can be done wearing a non-padded bra), wrap the measuring tape firmly directly under your bust.

For the most accurate result, It may help to get another person to measure you.

Remember, these measurements only serve as a guide, since your size may vary depending on styles.

STEP 1

Ensure to round the number to the nearest whole number.

If the number is even add 4” to your measurement (so if you measured 32” your band size is 36”).

If the number is odd add 5” (so if you measure 33” your band size is 38”).

STEP 2

Wrap the measuring tape somewhat loosely around the fullest part of your chest. Ensure to round to the measurement to the nearest whole number just as you did in step 1.

STEP 3

The final step is calculating your cup size.

Subtract your band size measurement from your bust measurement and refer to the chart size.

For example:

if your bust size is 37” and your band size is 34 inches,

37 – 34 = 3, Your bra size is 34C
