Multi-read content how to improve skin texture

If you have ever faced difficult, bumpy or dry conditionsthe skin, you will know how frustrating it can be. When skin issues are beyond our control, it can be difficult to figure out exactly what’s wrong and how to take care of it. So we contacted a beautician and a dermatologist to get their advice on how to improve skin texture.

But the quest for smooth skin is not without complications. There are so many reasons why our skin texture can be rough, leaving us confused as we try to figure out the best way to fix it. Food, genetics, drugs, aging, hormones, etc., all of which can lead to changes in skin texture. Personally, I’m prone to seasonal allergies, and when they show up, my skin is usually messy. I’m talking about hives, acne, rashes, dry, rough, flaky skin – you name it, it happens. It can be really demoralizing!

Fortunately, there are very goodsolutionsand the options keep getting better for finding effective ways to improve your skin texture. I spoke to a dermatologist, Dr. Rafaeloff ofThe Jolie Medi Spaand beauticianKasey BoonTo belong toGlow LA Skin Creamon the causes and treatments of poor skin texture.

Keep reading for more details on how to improve skin texture and some of the root causes that can lead to issues.

1 of 16

2 of 16What causes poor skin texture?

Dr. Rafaeloff notes that poor skin texture is often the result of dry skin, a buildup of dead skin cells, nutritional issues, dirtiness, as well as a lack of exfoliation – all of which can lead to rough or rough skin.

Environmental factors versus genetic factors

Both Dr. Rafaeloff and Boone say that genetics plays a huge role in shaping our skin, but environmental factors also play an important role. You won’t have a problem with skin texture, even if it runs in the family. They point to stress, diet, lack of sleep, weather, hormones, and potentially even misuse of skincare products as the reasons for a dull complexion. The good news is that you can definitely work with what your mom gave you to improve your skin texture.

The relationship between diet and skin structure

As we all know, what we put inside affects our outside. Boone and Dr. Rafaeloff both mention the importance of a balanced diet with lots of colorful vegetables and lots of nutrients to help with all skin issues, including texture. Lean proteins, high-quality amino acids, fiber, and healthy oils all contribute to glowing, smooth skin.

So how can skin texture be improved?

3 out of 16

Use retinol

The effectiveness of retinol is simply undeniable. This vitamin A derivative is primarily used to treat anti-aging issues, but Boone reminds us that using it regularly can make a huge difference in the quality of your skin’s texture. If you are ready for the critical moment, you can ask your dermatologist to buy a prescription cream. I started using a product last year to treat my seasonal skin issues and I will never go back. Not quite ready to play aggressively? There are many retinol creams available in different strengths onpharmaciesand Sephora.

Adjust your diet

Stock up on good skin superfoods that will do wonders for your skin and don’t forget to drink plenty of water!

  • carrot
  • greens (spinach, kale, arugula)
  • cruciferous vegetables
  • pumpkin
  • Yam
  • Salmon
  • chia seeds
  • Butter

As if we needed another reason to downloadSolar cream, even on gray days! Both Dr. Rafaeloff and Boone stress the importance of using sunscreen every day to help protect skin not only from UV rays, but also to improve skin texture. Damaged, acne-prone skin can definitely make your skin drier and rougher, as well as affect its appearance. Eliminate those worries with a great SPF and you’re good to go.

Reduce stress

I know, easier said than done, but our two experts note that stress and trauma can negatively affect the texture and appearance of your skin. Do your best to get 8 hours of sleep, turn on a meditation app, and take time to nourish yourself. It is not only good for your skin but also for your mental health. Everyone wins!

4 out of 16Exfoliate regularly

Boone recommends exfoliating 1-3 times a week for maximum results and says her favorite scrub isenzyme maskandexfoliating face cleanser. However, she was quick to remind us that it’s important not to over-exfoliate because it can actually worsen skin texture. When the skin’s natural moisture barrier is compromised by excessive exfoliation, it can lead to problems such as pimples, rashes, etc. Slowly start incorporating it into your routine and see how your skin reacts before you start.

Hydrodermablasion face

If you feel like you’ve tried all of the above, start with a hydrodermabrasion facial that removes the top layer of dry, dead skin. Boone loves this treatment because it uses vacuum extraction, exfoliation, hydration, and serum infusion to resurface the skin. She suggests using this type of service every four to eight weeks as routine maintenance, which can cost between $100 and $300, depending on your provider.

Double cleaning

If you haven’t already, it’s time to start double cleansing your skin index! This two-step cleansing process ensures that you’ve removed makeup and dirt. Using a mild cleanser will not strip the skin and may cause breakouts or other texture issues. Start with aCleansing oil or balmto remove makeup and dirt, then enterexfoliating face cleanserTo gently polish and brighten.

chemical mask

Dr. Rafaeloff says we can’t go wrong with chemical peels. And no, it’s not like Samantha from Sex and the City. There are so many options in different intensities that it’s easy to find an effective peel with virtually no downtime. I recently had a mild chemical exfoliation at my facilityJetin New York and was shocked by the immediate and lasting results. My skin was luminous and smooth for the next two months. I am connected for life.

5 out of 16

According to Dr. Rafaeloff, another good option for resurfacing is the Morpheus8 treatment. It is a micro-needle device that uses radio frequency energy to reshape and shape the face. It is a split treatment that penetrates deep into the skin to help resurface and tighten. There is some discomfort during this treatment and the downtime varies from patient to patient, but expect around 2-3 days and up to two weeks for full results. In total, it will cost you around $1300 per treatment.

If you want to invest in an effective treatment that works for your texture, acne scars, skin tone, and wrinkles, Dr.micro needle. This procedure involves micro-needles used to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin to produce collagen and elastin. Treatment usually starts at around $600 depending on your provider.

PRP micro-needling

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and you may see it called”vampire face”.This type of microneedling involves taking a blood sample, separating the PRP from the blood, and then using it in a microneedling service. Because plasma is so important in wound healing and wound healing, plasma can increase the effectiveness of treatment by helping skin tissue repair itself. PRP Micro-Needling can cost you $1,000, so it’s definitely an investment!

Lets start by normalising skin texture, because every single person has it and will always have it. Its normal, as I always say, if there’s no texture on our skin, we will look weird. Like a walking poorly edited face tune picture.

But sometimes our skin may be looking a little bumpier than usual, may be feeling a little rougher than usual, duller, uneven and even have enlarged pores. I’ve done a whole video this week on enlarged pores you can check out.

This usually means our skin needs a little extra attention!

And this is where our skincare products and skincare routines, can help make our skin look and feel healthier.
