Multi-read content how to get dried wood glue out of clothes

The only thing that wood glue bonds better than wood is fabric. So how do you remove wood glue and wood glue stains from business shirts that need to stay stylish? A person who works at SMCreeker said: “Over the past year I have had more than a few instances where I have regularly applied yellow glue then dried into the fabric of my work shirt. Does anyone know a trick to get rid of it? “

Here are some helpful suggestions… for those of you who put the glue on your clothes the wrong way!

Helpful Suggestions:

1) Using Titebond:
One of the reasons I use Titebond as often as possible……it’s for about 99% of my work. I apply a layer of glue – sweep and blend with my fingers – wipe my fingers on my pants – clip. When the pants go through the washing machine (and some say there’s enough glue to dry to make a really tough patch), everything never comes off.

2) Try vinegar:
Try white vinegar first. If that doesn’t work, try ammonia, but do it in an inconspicuous place indoors first to make sure the color of the fabric doesn’t fade. Usually it’s best to rinse the glue immediately with water before it hardens, but if it’s hard, it won’t be easy. White glue is usually water soluble. Class II PVA is water resistant; so vinegar, etc., recommended. Class III PVA will be even more difficult…

3) Suggested Pro Dry-Cleaner:
A. Take a clean old cloth, spread it over the stain and iron it on the hottest spot. If the glue can heat up to the point of settling, you can wipe off most of the glue.

b. There is a product in our industry that we use as a flexible binder called amyl acetate. If you can soak the stain for hours, the stain may start to break down. If it works, just rinse it with naphtha or mineral in a rag.

4) Boiling water:
Place the glued area in boiling water. Boiling water softens the PVA adhesive and a stiff bristle brush such as a nail brush will remove the softened adhesive.

5) Peel off the glue
De-Glue Goo(a solvent with a suspicious smell of vinegar and a higher cost…)
