2. Gas riser -The gas relay is the conduit that comes out of the ground to connect the gas supply to your gas meter. Consider that the very first gas boosters of the 2000s were actually made from non-corrosive plastic products. Before that, it was mostly steel, like in this example of a house built in 1992.

Over time, the steel in the ground corrodes and develops thin spots that can create openings for gas to escape. In most cases, the gas company is responsible for servicing the meter and all gas lines from the street to the meter.

Homeowners are responsible for gas lines and post-meter connections in their homes. Gas gauges are usually located at the back or side of a house, a few inches from the exterior wall surface.

You can use this method to test for small leaks around your watch using the bubble test. Mix a few tablespoons of dishwashing liquid in a quart of water and spray the mixture around the counter and gaskets. If you see bubbles around the meter, it’s the gas company’s job. You as the homeowner are obligated if there is a leak on the side of the house next door or where the gas supply enters the meter. You will want to hire a certified plumber to do the repair. If between the line and the meter, it is the responsibility of the gas company.

Pool heaters may also have their own gas pressure regulator. Homeowners are responsible for their own maintenance and repair work, as the gas can potentially be disconnected from the main gas meter in the house before it reaches the pool heater.
