Multi-read content how to get rid of a water stain

Cleaning Your Walls Can Sometimes Feel Like a 22nd Thing While no one wants to live in a place covered in dust, dirt, or soot from your candles, cleaning your walls the wrong way can leave them uneven or full of unsightly stains. Also, large water spots caused by leaks or torrential rain should be cleaned up quickly to avoid permanent damage or mold.

Don’t panic: there are things you can do to restore your walls.

Dean Davies, UK cleaning consultant, says: “Removing water stains from walls is a bit trickier, but if you do it right you can remove them quickly and easily.Excellent detergent.

Before breaking out the cleaning supplies, Davies recommends checking the walls of your home to make sure there are no leaks. (After all, no one wants to clean up the mess.) From there, he recommends using the easiest method first: soap and club soda.

“Pour warm water into a bowl or container and mix in a few drops of dishwashing liquid,” he says. “[Dip] a dry cloth in the solution, try not to soak it and gently rub it over the stain. Wait a few minutes to see if the stain disappears or fades, and repeat the process if necessary.

If you need a little extra stain remover on the water, Davies recommends using a cleaning eraser. But what if it doesn’t work? You can use bleach.

“Mix one cup of bleach with three cups of water in a large bucket or pail,” he says. “If you’re dealing with larger stains, increase the bleach and water solution, but always add one part bleach and three parts water.”

He recommends using a sponge to apply the solution to the walls to help remove the mildew. After leaving the bleach mixture on the wall for 30 minutes, use a paper towel or other dry sponge to dry off any remaining solution. Don’t forget to put on rubber gloves before scrubbing!
