Multi-read content what are pavers made of

People tend to throw the terms “paver” “paver” “concrete machine” “brick paver” around each other. This is because pavers have undergone many changes over the years resulting in the variety of options on the market today.

Historically, pavers were made from clay or natural stone. Due to the decreasing availability of stone and/or raw materials over time, combined with changes in manufacturing science and technology, it did not take long for precast concrete pavers to become a popular choice. .

At Unilock, when we talk about pavers, we usually refer to the concrete pavers we manufacture.

Pavers are made on specialized machines that mix materials and press them into pavers. The components used to create tiles are quite simple:

  1. sharp sand
  2. Small crushed ice (about 1/8″ or 3 mm)
  3. cement powder
  4. Drink water
  5. Pigment
  6. Additives help harden, eliminate mold and reduce moss formation.

Although pavers are made on specialized machines/presses, the basic components of concrete are exactly the same as those of conventional concrete, with only slight changes in the proportions of these components.

Because machines are used to mold and press these paving slabs, these concrete paving slabs are two to three times stronger than conventional cast-in-place concrete. The fact that they are so strong allows us to offer a lifetime warranty. The manufacturing process also allows us to create pavers and retaining wall blocks in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.

The only other additional ingredients are those used to make EnduraColor products. These “secret sauce” ingredients feature specialized, high-quality blends and slightly different manufacturing processes that give a specific look and feel, while deliveringLong-lasting performance and image life.
