Multi-read content how to move an oven

Your kitchen might be one of the hardest rooms to navigate in the house, but it’s also one of the most essential to your daily life. Although piles of dishes, pots and pans can be fairly easy to manage on your own, you might want to consider hiring a professional mover to do the cleanup.carry bulky items such as household items. However, if you want to build muscle and do it yourself, here are some tips.

How to move the refrigerator

Follow these ten steps to transport your refrigerator safely:

  1. Content Cleanup
  2. Unplug and let the freezer defrost for 6-8 hours
  3. Wipe interior to remove moisture
  4. Remove and wrap the glass shelf
  5. Disconnect the water line and empty the water tank
  6. Adhesive tape and small parts on the back of the refrigerator
  7. Security doors with cables or ropes
  8. Transport in an upright position using the device’s ratchet and ratchet straps
  9. Safety in a truck using a lanyard
  10. At destination, sit for 2-3 hours before plugging in

Empty the contents and unplug the refrigerator. It is best to refrigerate for 6-8 hours to thaw and allow moisture to evaporate completely. This step will prevent mold from growing inside the refrigerator (especially important when traveling long distances or storing the appliance). Remove all glass shelves and pack them separately. You may want to label the shelves for ease of assembly when you put them together. Disconnect the water line from the ice maker or water dispenser and fill the water tank with water. Again, be sure to dry all of these components thoroughly. Attach the power cord to the back of the refrigerator. You might want to put all the small parts in a small plastic bag and tape it to the back. Secure the door with a strong wire or rope or tie the doors together. Make sure the refrigerator is always in an upright position. Never move the refrigerator on its side as this could irreparably damage the compressor. Move the refrigerator using a hand truck or dolly; Make sure you have 2-3 support people to ensure the refrigerator is always balanced and stable. In the truck, use a lanyard to secure the refrigerator, so that the refrigerator does not move during transport. When you arrive at your destination, let the refrigerator sit for two or three hours before plugging it in to allow liquid to flow back into the compressor.

How to move the oven?

When moving a gas oven, you can seek the assistance of a competent technician to properly disconnect the gas lines. Here are some additional steps to follow:

  1. If it is a gas stove, turn off the gas line
  2. Empty the bottom drawer
  3. Point the device backwards and slide the cardboard under the front legs
  4. Take out the oven, use cardboard to avoid scratching the floor
  5. Unplug the power cord and gas line (be sure to turn it off first!)
  6. Adhesive doors close or come off the hinges
  7. Place on device cart and secure with ratchet strap
  8. Securely in a truck using a lanyard to keep it from moving during transport

If your stove is gas, turn the gas valve to the off position and remove the hose. Remember, just like your dry cleaner, it’s best to leave the gas shut-off to a qualified technician. Pull the stove out just far enough to reach the back and disconnect the power cord and gas line if it is a gas stove. You can use a piece of heavy cardboard or plywood to protect the floor when moving the oven. Turn the hob backwards to slide the cardboard under the front feet. Some stoves have anti-roll devices which must be removed. Once the oven is removed from the wall, seal the door or remove it from the hinges, if possible. Remove the button and the bracket and pack them separately. Place the oven on the appliance spring bar and remember never to lift the hob by the door handle. Make sure there is at least one other person (if not more) available to help you. Do not attempt to move a heavy oven by yourself!

With a little planning and preparation, you can safely move large kitchen appliances into your new home. However, do not hesitate to call on a professional to help you. You can seehiring motivationmore reasonable than you think and avoid the risk of hurting yourself.
