How does FlyPaper work?

Fly Paper

A flying paper that works onthe fact that flies have a strong smell. As I said before, a fly paper is coated with an attractant which has adhesive properties. The attractant used in fly paper can give off a food- or pheromone-based aroma.

Paper fly odor is very weak and often undetectable to humans. However, since the flies have a strong smell, they will be attracted to it and when they land on the paper, they will stick to it. The more they struggled, the more they stuck to the adhesive.

The fly paper can be used both indoors and outdoors. In general, flying paper works best when you hang it in an area frequented by flies. You can use them near windows, trash cans, near entrances, etc.

Extra tip: how to make your own homemade flying paper:

As an extra tip, I’m going to share your homemade flying paper method here. Making a flying paper at home is very easy.

List of items you need:

  • A brown paper bag
  • The scissors
  • Heating pan
  • A large spoon for stirring
  • Corn syrup
  • Drink water
  • Chain for hanging papers

Step by step instructions:

1. Take the brown paper bag and cut it into 2 inch long strips. At one end of these strips, make a hole and put a rope through this hole.

2. Next, add equal parts corn syrup and water to the pot, stirring while stirring with a spoon until it just begins to boil.

3. Next, remove the pan from the heat and soak the strips in the mixture for at least 4-5 hours. While soaking the strips, make sure that the wires attached to them are not submerged in the pan.

5. Take the strips out and let them dry for 2-3 hours.

6. When the paper strips are dry, hang them in a fly infested area and your homemade Fly Paper is ready to catch flies.
