Multi-read content how to paint around carpet

Step 4: Load your brush

Now is the time to load the paint onto the brush or roller.

Dip your paintbrush into a cup or pot of paint and wipe off excess paint from one side only. Be careful not to put too much paint because it will melt and cause mixing.

This step is probably one of the hardest when painting because too much paint will run and not enough will require you to use extra grease on the elbows.

I like to drive my brush straight in and then clean up the side opposite the direction I intend to paint.

For example, if you’re right-handed and plan to brush from left to right, then you’ll clean the paint on the side closest to you and the paint on the side facing you.

Step 5: Paint the base of the wall

Now gently apply the brush to the surface of the base panel and gently drag it in a left-to-right motion (or right-to-left if you’re left-handed.) As you drag the brush, you can rotate Follow an angle and watch the paint flow.

You will quickly find that the coverage depends on the pressure you exert on the brush as well as the angle of your application with each pass.

Begin by “cutting” where the cut contacts the drywall. This is a tricky step because you don’t want to overpaint the drywall. Use long, slow strokes while controlling your breathing to stabilize your hands.

The goal is a clear line between decor and drywall, and long, even strokes are the best way to achieve this.

Next, paint the bottom edge of the skirting board by pushing the paintbrush into the space between the tape and the skirting board.

Then finish this part of the baseboard with one or two long, quick strokes in the center of the baseboard.

And remember, you can always wipe off the excess paint and start over if you make a mistake. Just keep a dry cloth and a damp towel handy for any drywall cleaning.

Depending on the brand name of the paint and the thickness of the mixture, you may need 1-2 coats of paint for good coverage. Most latex paints have a similar thickness and texture.

Obviously, if you paint the baseboards and drywall the same color but can be flat on the walls and partially glossy on the trim, any excess paint likely won’t show up on the inspector’s watch. the inspector is of course your spouse or relative.

Congratulation ! You just learned how to paint baseboards like a pro.
