How to seal a driveway with asphalt

One way to extend the life of an asphalt driveway and improve the appearance of a shiny black, no-wash hood is to coat it with sealer.driveway sealer. As moisture enters the cracks, which freeze and thaw, the cracks will grow and let in more water.

Development problem. At the same time, sunlight fades and dries out the asphalt, which makes the asphalt brittle. A sealed driveway coating is like painting or staining the partitions – it helps block the sun’s harmful rays and keep moisture out.

It also helps driveways repel gasoline and oil that break down asphalt. One gallon covers approximately 80 square feet, but be sure to check the actual coverage listed on the box.

How to Clean an Asphalt Driveway

The freeze-thaw cycle, rain, snow, and everyday traffic can take their toll on your driveway, and as a result, cracks and stains can make it worse.

Fortunately, cleaning, repairing and maintaining the driveway can make it look almost like new again. The best method to use depends on whether the driveway is concrete, brick, or asphalt. Here we are looking at asphalt.

To clean an asphalt driveway, brush the surface with a stiff, coarse bristle brush with a mixture of detergent and water.

How to remove oil stains from an asphalt driveway

Although oil stains on tarmac are difficult to remove, you can try cleaning them with cleaner and bleach or replace them with a commercial driveway cleaner.

If you’re buying a driveway cleaner, be sure to buy one designed for asphalt. Concrete cleaners can damage asphalt. Clearly follow label instructions. But first, try the family cleanser route:

first Use a stiff, long-handled brushand 100% trisodium phosphate (TSP) solution or a phosphate-free alternative, rub the stain. Wear old clothes, rubber gloves and eye protection.

You can make a permanent pothole repair in your driveway with a pothole patch. I’ve had great results from Henry products. I like how easy this Henry pothole patch is to work with. I’ve used bagged pothole patch that came out in chucks and was difficult to spread.
