Multi-read content what to use with gua sha

Guasha 101

Gua sha sculpts the face and moves stagnant energy, increasing circulation and lymphatic drainage. Regular gua sha facials promote collagen production and lift the face to create a more defined jawline and cheekbones, but you’ll notice a reduction in inflammation, tightness and puffiness after just one session.

To start your gua sha seed facial, you’ll need a gua sha stone (we love it).it’s from Wildling) and facial oil or serum to help the gua sha tool glide over your face. Here’s the key: if the gua sha pulls on your skin, it’s doing more harm than good!

Best Gua Sha Oils and Serums for Oily Skin

Popular questions about what to use with gua sha

what to use with gua sha?

Gua sha is best done after both cleansing the face and applying a moisturizer or facial oil, says Lam, as the gua massage not only gives your skin a ‘workout,’ but also helps products’ nutrients absorb better into skin.

What should I put on my face before gua sha?

Your skin should be slippery and moisturized for the tool to work its wonders without causing any irritation. Always make sure to apply a serum or a moisturizer before using the gua sha tool to massage your face.

What’s the best product to use with a gua sha?

Grapeseed oil

Grapeseed oil has anti-aging, moisturizing, and rejuvenating properties that work well when coupled with gua sha. It’s high in antioxidants, linoleic acid, and vitamin E, making this facial massage oil a good choice for fighting signs of aging such as wrinkles and age spots!

Do you need to use oil with gua sha?

It’s the golden rule of gua sha: Always apply facial oil before using your stone. You need enough slip so that the tool can easily glide across the contours of your face—without it, you can pull or tug at your delicate skin.

How do I make my face thinner with gua sha?

How do I add gua sha to my skincare routine?

How do I incorporate gua sha into my skincare routine? Always prep the skin with cleansing before using a gua sha. Follow up with your regular skincare products like serum, moisturizer, eye cream and face oil. The latter is essential for creating a nice slip and avoiding tissue damage.

Can I use hyaluronic acid with gua sha?

To avoid any unnecessary tugging of the skin, apply an organic facial oil or Hyaluronic acid all over your face in gentle tapping motions. Apply a generous amount on the skin as the serum will begin to absorb with the Gua Sha tool.

Can I use castor oil with gua sha?

Can gua sha be used with coconut oil?

Whilst coconut oil usually belongs in our hair to help it stay silky and smooth, its actually a wonderfully beneficial oil for our skin too. Using coconut oil on your Gu Sha can help protect the skin against any environmental damages, hydration and even lightening of mild pigmentation.

Is rosehip oil good for gua sha?

Similar to jojoba oil, rosehip also contains vitamin C, which helps combat free radicals. It is also probably the best oil for gua sha in terms of skin appearance, as many people claim it can help reduce visible scarring from acne and stretch marks, as well as brighten and even out skin tone.

Can I use olive oil for gua sha?

Helpful tips for using gua sha for particular conditions

Lubricate the area with a massage oil or muscle-relief balm. If you don’t have access to either, you can also use an oil like olive, coconut, or avocado. Press and scrape in one direction with even strokes until the sha appears.

How can I improve my jawline with gua sha?

Position the flat side of the board on the top of the shoulder, and stroke it upward to where your jaw meets your ear. Repeat on the other side. Place the curved notch of the board where your collarbones meet, and drag it up the midline of the throat up to (but not over) your chin. Repeat on each side of the throat.

How do you sculpt jawline with gua sha?

How do you get rid of a double chin with gua sha?

Can you use serums with gua sha?

There are also tons of different skincare serums or facial oils that are perfect to use with your gua sha. As a general rule of thumb, you want something with enough slip that will let you really work the product into your skin, without too much pulling or dragging.

With so many facial tools available now, many of which come quite costly, the one I love using the most and really makes a difference to not just how my skin and face looks, but how I feel, is the gua sha. I’ve had gua sha body treatments for years specifically to help areas of pain and inflammation. But gua sha for the body and the face are very different.

I had my TCM practitioner teach me how to do this correctly, the technique and sequence (full disclosure, I’ve done it incorrectly and my face was a mess the following few days) and the different acupressure points in my face. From there, I focused on what works best for me and boy, does it work! Many of you have asked me how I use this simple tool. I incorporate facial acupressure which I never realized how much I needed until recently. Even my mood is affected after I do this facial massage so I hope you enjoy watching and can do this along with me!

I also show you how I clean my gua sha, and disinfect before I use it. #guasha
