A natural weed killer that is commonly found in your kitchen is salt. To make a salt water recipe, simply mix together three parts water and 1 part salt. Be careful applying it to weeds, as salt water is harmful to other plants as well.

Use baking soda

the environment, you have nothing to fear from soil pollution.

Also known as baking soda, baking soda has a high salt content which, when poured over weeds, causes them to dry out from root to tip and eventually die. To use baking soda for this purpose, wet the weeds using your garden hose and sprinkle them with baking soda.

Baking soda is also very useful in preventing weeds from growing between sidewalks. Just pour baking soda on your tiler and sweep it into the cracks. Ideally, do it in spring or fall, and you should reapply every 1 to 1.5 months.

Use vinegar

Will the vinegar kill the weeds between the sidewalks? Like baking soda, vinegar is natural and safe to use for killing weeds. The acetic acid in the vinegar will suck all the moisture out of the weeds and kill them. If you want fast results (usually within 24 hours), vinegar is the way to go.

To create the recipe, combine the following ingredients: 1 gallon of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of concentrated dish soap, and 2 cups of table salt.

Be aware, however, that vinegar is harmful to all plants, not just weeds. You don’t want to accidentally spray on ornamental plants, so be sure to spray the sprayer on weeds and sidewalk cracks.

Use chemicals

In addition to natural products, you can also choose to usechemical herbicides. These chemicals fall into two general categories:

  1. Pre-germination – They act on seeds and seedlings, forming a barrier that prevents germination.
  2. Post-growth – They work on weed growth and are of two types:
  3. Selective herbicides – These herbicides specifically target weeds, so it may be safe to apply them all over the yard.
Non-selective herbicides – These kill all plants they come in contact with, so apply them carefully in the center of the paved area.

Pressure washing

If you don’t want to use products or chemicals, pressure washing is the best way to kill weeds between pavers. Simply weed by hand, then use a pressure washer around the pavers to remove the roots. Be careful, though, because you only want to remove debris and sand and leave the paver covering alone and intact.

If you want an easy, quick and safe way to kill weeds in between your brick pavers, gravel and slabs, then all you need is a bag of rock salt. Rock salt is more commonly used to treat roads and pavements during the cold winter months to stop ice forming.

But rock salt is also great at killing weeds and is completely safe around children and pets, et cetera. Just buy yourself a bag of rock salt which will cost approximately £7-£10 and then evenly apply with a sweeping brush on your brick pavers or slabs. For maximum weed killing effect you should apply the rock salt when at least 2 or 3 days of dry weather is forecast. This will allow the rock salt to remain active and not get washed away by the rain. After you have finished applying the rock salt, you should gently water it with a hosepipe and then leave it for at least 2 days. Rock salt will leave a white residue on your brick pavers or slabs during this time until you wash it away completely. You may find that you in hot weather, white marks may appear on your brick pavers or slabs as the heat will draw up the salt that’s worked its way into the nooks and crannies and sand. Don’t worry, this is a good thing as it prevents weeds from regrowing and it will naturally disappear over a month or two.
