Multi-read content how to install base cap moulding

base cap molding

Yes, this is a great plinth cover for the large plinth of this little half bath. But it’s beautiful!

Installing the base cap is not difficult, but it is a difficult task. So make sure you give yourself plenty of time so you don’t get frustrated with how quickly it installs.

This is especially important when working in a small, cramped room like this.

[This is part ofA makeover of our moldseries. Lookall updates here.]

The first hidden corner

My plan was to treat the base cover in the corners, so I chose the back wall first. And all I needed for that was a straight cut base cap,CM-005.

baseboard cap molding

The first part of the base cover is placed in the corner of the back wall to check the fit.

Adhesive

Yes, I even glued the mating surfaces – top and bottom – before nailing the plinth cover in place with 23 measurement microphone pins.

23 micro gauge pins are easy to fill with refill!

Alert! It’s a difficult environment to manage

When this mold is oriented this way, with the handle on top, it is very difficult to process it properly.

I recommend using a 45 degree angled groove for inside corners when using this die as a base cap.

best baseboard molding

The deal cut for this angle is too hard and the results aren’t the best, and I’m pretty good at it.

Principal repayment

Use a back where the plinth ends at the top of the vertical door/column.

how to terminate a baseboard molding

Cut to base cup length with last glove. Be sure to check the fit of the bracket before gluing and nailing it in place.

Now cut the opposite outer protrusion a length long enough to sit firmly on your table saw.

how to cut baseboard molding

I use a pencil to make a little tic to help orient my saw blade.

Cutting small returns like these can end up with a chipped piece or a piece that is too long or too short.

Benefits are very important to do correctly as they are the focal point of your setup, the eye will naturally be drawn. So make them nice.

how to miter molding

Take your time profitably. I often have to redo them to make them perfect. Usually several times.

The glue comes back in place.

Fit Check

I checked both base cover pieces for tightness one last time before installation.

Glue and nail the base cover in place.

That’s all to have it. I will now complete the rest of the base cover installation.

I usually check comments several times a day, so if you have any questions about this install sequence, you can use the comments section below.
