Multi-read content how to drive fence posts

Last week’s sweltering heat may have paid for some work on and around your farm, but replacing fence posts that have rotted or been damaged by runaway cattle is something you can’t do just tomorrow. .

One obstacle that everyone faces, especially during the summer, is the constant effort to manually hammer the pole into dry, hard ground. Or if you use your tractor driver, finding a time when this is available during these busy months is arguably harder than finding a winning lottery ticket! It was a nightmare, we know, we were there!

When a new customer purchases our Easy Petrol Post Driver, we’re surprised how many people think this machine isn’t powerful enough to drive 4″ (or smaller) posts into dry, hard ground (because it’s pretty strong!) It wasn’t until we talked to them about the process that they realized how easy the job can be.

So we thought we’d share with you the process of transferring a fence post into dry or hard ground. Bonus: it also works with heavy clay or chalk!

Equipment needed:Easy Fuel Panel DriverandPilot base tool

First of all, what is the Pilot Core tool?
The Pilot Core Tool is a 1 meter rod that allows you to remove the soil core from the ground before driving it into your stake. Precisely designed to work on dry, hard ground, the cutting head has been heat-treated, making it more durable and stiffer.

Step 1
Insert the 107mm adapter into the Easy Petrol Post Driver and slide the spacer washer over the Pilot Core tool

2nd step
Using the Easy Petrol Post Driver, drive the Pilot Core Tool into the required position to a depth of approximately 150mm (6″) below the required depth. Pro Tip: Wrap tape around the central tool to indicate exactly where you need to go!

Step 3
Once done, you can configure the driver to download (don’t worry, you can leave the Honda engine idle, it’s not thirsty!) Then install the T-bar (included) horizontally in the Pilot tool Core. Using your stake as leverage, knock the base tool off the ground. Twist and pull with the T-bar when you’re about to go!

Step 4
Your premises are all equipped! You can present main engine content and continue driving in your posts. Pro Tip: Fill the hole with water and let it sit, this makes the soil soft and moist, making it easier to increase your stake!

Step 5
Remove the spacer collar from the 107mm adapter to drive 4″ posts (or upgrade to the adapter required for your post size). Then direct your post into the hole you just made!

Yes, it really is that simple!

We can now complete this blog trying to further promote the product and if we do we can say something like: with high quality Australian engineering we can provide a 3 year commercial warranty on the machine and a motor Reliable Honda that speaks for itself. , etc

However, we will not. Instead, we’ll leave you with a video of one of our customers who ran into an accuracy issue while driving 4-inch round wooden posts into hard ground…

Is 2 feet deep enough for fence posts?

Dig post hole so diameter of the hole is 3 times the width of the post (i.e., the hole for a 4” wood post should be about 12 inches wide). The depth of the hole should be 1/3-1/2 the post height above ground (i.e., a 6-foot tall fence would require a hole depth of at least 2 feet).

Fence posts should be set six to eight feet apart on a 6 foot wood fence. Do not go beyond eight feet or the fence may not be stable enough.

Do Fence Posts Need To Be Set in Concrete? No, fence posts don’t need to be set in concrete, and there are plenty of other ways to fix your posts if this feels a bit too permanent. If you are using wooden posts, concrete may actually be the worst option.

How To Use A Fence Post Rammer in 2018

A simple device which is no magical post insertion device but a tool to aid in the insertion of wooden fence posts. Let’s be real and understand that this device or tool is not a light tool to use but by nature, it is heavy and labour intensive. No Free ride here but blood sweat and tears.

What is a Post Rammer?

A post rammer is a heavy-duty tool for the physical ramming of posts into the ground. The post rammer is ideal for stock fencing on paddocks and boundary fencing. It is a lot easier than digging a hole or using a heavy mallet. It is a simple design but effective for installing fence posts.

Post Rammer Design

The design of the post rammer as described in this blog is a very simple design. It is basically a steel tube big enough to go over the post. For operation, there are two metal handles. For the kinetic energy, the sheer weight is enhanced by the heavy steel plate in the blank end.
