first.Choose a paint color for your pots. I keep it simple, my 6 year old wants to help draw them and I want to make it easy. We use 1 color for the top part and another color for the main part of the jar.

We also painted the clay disc 2 colors on the outside and just left the inside of the plate plain. You can get more complicated with the design and add more stripes or color blocks, but I like how it looks with text and just a few colors. Beautiful and simple.

2.Paint the top of the pot and let it dry. While it dries, paint the top of the clay dish and let it dry.

3.Next, paint the bottom of your terracotta pots and plates. Let everything dry completely.

We used aexterior acrylic paintwhich requires no additional sealant. If you only have plain acrylic paint, you can just seal it later with weatherproof spray. However, painting the exterior becomes easy and you don’t have to worry about proper coating.

4.Now is the time to create some fun plant puns! It’s always fun to look up different botanical puns to use, there are so many! Knowing what you’ll be growing in homemade flower pots can help you choose the perfect words to use. We just put in pretty colorful flowers so I wanted to keep the general text intact.

I’ve made a list of plant pun ideas below for you to peruse!

5.Once you have selected your text, you can start drawing it on your jar. We used peel and stick stencils that I found at our local dollar store. If you can’t find templates, you can usepaint pento replace. It would also be a great choice for teenagers who like to practice handwriting. If you are using a brush, be sure to stamp the letters withweather sealingafter.

When drawing on the letters with stencils, be sure to peel off the stencil before it dries. When dry, it can peel off the paint underneath.

6.Once you have finished painting the clay pot and everything has dried well, you can plant your flowers!

I love how our DIY painted flower pots come out. So bright and colorful and the addition of botanical puns makes them even more fun! These would make a great Mother’s Day gift, teacher appreciation gift, or a special handmade gift for any occasion.

In this video I have told that how we dye our flower pots with very cheap colors at home. You can use lime and ocher color to paint the flavors. It is a very low cost natural color which is free of harmful chemicals and does not harm any of our plants.
