Most people only know they have a bad battery or alternator if the car won’t start stranding them miles from home. I show YOU how to avoid this disaster by testing both.

🎥 WHY you should clean your battery:

You will only need a multimeter or a voltmeter. I show you how to carry out a load test on your battery and how to check the cells to find a dead cell. I’ll also test alternator output with my voltmeter with no other special equipment.

This testing can be carried out easily at home and should be carried out annually to monitor the health of your battery and alternator.

This way you can replace your battery or repair your alternator at your leisure with time ⏳ to shop around 👀 before it becomes critical 🆘 and a ‘panic’ 😱 purchase (usually costing more 💰)

SOMETHING I FORGOT TO COVER: When the battery is cold, it finds it harder to produce power. As the temperature drops below 5C it also becomes harder for the battery to accept charge, until at about -5C or less it will not accept any charge at all. This is one reason batteries become discharged during winter use. It also means that if you are going to test and charge your battery then it needs to be above 5C. So if it’s cold out, warm your battery a little, either in a warm underbonnet or bring it inside the house overnight.
