How to sew a gnome outfit

And the steps for this costume are very simple! We will make two separate parts: the hat (including the beard) and the belt!

garden gnome hat

Perfect for an easy, last-minute costume, whip up this No-Sew Garden Gnome Costume in just minutes with everything you need from Michaels Stores!

1. First, roll your red felt into a cone shape, trim the excess to create a flat base then glue the sides together.

2. Then you glue the elastic inside, measuring how long you need the string to wrap around your child’s head.

3. Finally, for the hat, we’ll add some handmade feathers to the shell so nothing has to stick to the child’s face (I’m not sure many kids like things out of the mold. ) their faces, right?!).

4. I drew a beard on the back of the fur and added “tabs” at the top which I wrapped around the elastic and glued to keep them in place.

Garden gnome belt

Next, the belt!

Perfect for an easy, last-minute costume, whip up this No-Sew Garden Gnome Costume in just minutes with everything you need from Michaels Stores!

1. For the belt, I just cut two long strips of black felt, two squares of yellow felt (I doubled the yellow felt for thickness and sturdiness), and a small square of black felt.

2. I simply glued the yellow squares together and the black square above.

3. Next, I glued one end of each black strip to the back of the yellow squares and wrapped it around my child’s waist to measure the length needed.

4. After cutting the belt to size, I added velcro strips to the ends so it could be rolled up and velcro to stay in place.

Add your hat and your belt to the blue t-shirt, take black pants and your little pantsSelf-Gardening Gnome Outfitsit’s good to go!
