Hello everyone,

Yes I have finally listened and provided! Today I am going to show you how to remove flip flop and sandal odors by using baking soda. I talked about this technique in a past video titled How to Get Odors Out of Flip Flops or Sandals, but never showed a demonstration. Baking soda, when combined with water can absorb the odor causing bacteria from the sole of the shoe. If you use this technique and combine it with heat from the sun, it will have a double effect. Heat will also kill the bacteria. You may have to these steps more than once to get the best results, but it does work and will help cut the odors.

Baking Soda – Use to Remove Refrigerator Bad Odors

Does Baking Soda actually help with fridge smells?

Yes – we think so!

Store an opened box of baking soda in your refrigerator and one in the freezer to help eliminate odors. By replacing every few months you’ll be able to help keep odors at a minimum. Try dating the box to help you remember when to replace it or you could add this routine item to your Home Maintenance Schedule if you have one.

Be sure to check out our video on creating and maintaining a Home Maintenance Schedule.

There’s a link in this video and down below to that video.

So how does baking soda accomplish this? The scientific name for baking soda is sodium bicarbonate. This can act as a weak acid depending on what it comes in contact with. The odors in your fridge are essentially made of food particles that float around and can eventually settle into your other items stored there. By having several open boxes of baking soda in the fridge, this give those smelly particles something else to bond with. Once bonded, the odor will likely be neutralized.

When it’s time to change out the box, we’ve got a suggestion on what to do with the old box that will also offer two other helps for your home.
